No review tonight... well maybe...

Feeling a bit tired - work was tough... put a bunch of time into a project only to deliver it to the client and have them tell me that they had already told our sales person not to worry about it! he, of course didn't let me know that so I put in about 2+hrs and then got to look stupid in front of the client.

awesome!

I guess I could review the tv show I'm watching... Poker After Dark on NBC.

watching on Tivo of course - we don't watch "live" tv anymore. This episode has phil laak, phil helmuth, jen harman, and antonio esfandiari.

Helmuth is an ass, we all know this - he's supremely convinced that he can do no wrong, every hand that beats him is a bad beat, impossible call, or an amateur move at best. Helmuth reminds me of a pre-pubescent 14 year old that thinks he's smarter than everyone around him - i hate those kids.

Laak is an interesting guy - he's semi entertaining for the first 30 minutes or so, after that it's just the same old parlor tricks - get up, talk about how he has no chance to win this hand, go sit on the couch, wait for the other player to fold.

Esfandiari will likely win this tournament, steady, thought out, seems to make the right poker decision every time... that type of play will eventually beat out every other player barring some unreal luck for another player.

Harman seems like she'd have a million tells - always doing that weird thing with her mouth... always looking up and down, hand on face hand off face. not the prettiest lady they've had on but seems to be the most sympathetic.

all in all I like this show - evidenced by the fact that I have 6 episodes on Tivo currently. You don't necessarily learn much from the way they play but the banter can be entertaining.

Palm Treo 700p (CDMA) Sprint Network

For a full-review check out a site like cnet, this is just a personal review and looks at the features I use everyday.

The Treo is by far the best phone I've ever had, it incorporates many devices into one; Phone, email, internet, calculator, calendar, camera, mp3 player, video player, games, Instant Messaging, contacts, document viewer/editor, camcorder, tv, and more.

I use the following apps on a daily basis: Phone, email, internet, calendar, games, and contacts

Phone: The phone side of this device works as it should, make calls receive calls, no problem. Volume level has been a slight issue but there are third party volume booster apps I've yet to install that help the issue. Reception is an enigmatic concept and I have no idea how to delineate between the phone having poor reception or my coverage not being great in a particular area. There does seem to be a dead spot in my house, which happens to be in my favorite seat in the livingroom - without fail about 2 minutes into a call I lose the signal and have to walk outside to redial... but I think that's more of a Sprint problem than a Treo problem.

Email: The standard email app that is packaged with Treo is ok for POP accounts and for those that don't mind having to manually check for email. I wanted a BlackBerry style email push straight to my phone from an IMAP account so I went with the third party app Chatter Email. Chatter is able to push email to your phone automatically - you even set how the phone notifies you of a new message. Mine is set to blink rapidly so when I see my little green light flashing I know that I have a new offer for viagra or maybe I've won a south african lottery!

Internet: The browser is lame, no shocker there... it seems like the only phone/pda combo to get this equation right is the new Apple iPhone. The internet on Treo is a very utilitarian experience, I find myself going to the web to use google mobile and moviefone, that's about it.

Calendar: Oooohhh it syncs with my Outlook - sweet! it's comforting to know that changes to my schedule will be displayed in both my desktop computer and my phone... no more missing meetings, or scheduled phone calls! the calendar app has saved my marriage as I can now set recurring reminders of Birthdays, anniversaries, day we met, first kiss, first colonoscopy, etc.

Games: Many palm games work with Treo... most are fairly simple and unimpressive. I mean really who cares about games? it's just a way to pass the time while in the bathroom anyway, right? I have the following games on my Treo: Bubble Snooker Mobile, Monopoly, Smiling Bubbles, YahtC, Hold 'Em

Contacts: Love this! I have no idea how many this baby can hold but I have all of my contacts in there. You can store a picture that will pop up when a contact calls you, I have my friends make funny faces for their contact images. I have friends, co-workers, clients, and even telemarketers and people I don't like programmed in. One of my contacts is labelled "Pain in my ass" because this person basically stalked me for a good 6 months - that was probably 2 years ago but I just see no reason to remove the number... lol.

All-in-all the Treo is a killer phone/pda... screen resolution is definately improved over the 600 and 650 models. I am holding out hope for an Apple iPhone but i'm not sure that I want to make the jump from Sprint to ATT just yet... maybe I'll wait for the next iteration to surface.

2006 Acura MDX

The 2006 Acura MDX is by far the best value within it's class.

Our Experience:
Our first experience with Acura was our 2004 TSX - an excellent car, fit and finish second to none. At the time we had our TSX and a Nissan Murano, we decided it would be best to go down to one car as we were able to commute to work together and figured we'd save on gas, insurance, and have 1 car payment instead of two. We loved the styling & amenities of the Acura but also really liked having the SUV to haul stuff in... what to do?

Enter the Acura MDX, it hit all of our pressure points! luxury, comfort, SUV, power, safety, and quality. We purchased from a local dealer (Niello Acura) who has an excellent reputation in town and owns a few other luxury brands (BMW, Porsche, Land Rover, and Audi). Our sales guy Chris was excellent! he took us on a 30 minute test drive where we put the car through it's paces including: acceleration from zero, braking, turning radius, parallel parking, emergency maneuvers, etc. We were sold... being the impulsive buyers that we are we decided to lease right then and take advantage of a limited time lease deal.

We've now had the MDX for about 1.5 years and still love it - We did add 20" dubs but probably could have fit 22s with ease. We have had no issues to report and have put a good 35,000 miles on it so far - yes, we've already blown past the mileage limit for our lease. We plan to purchase at the end of our term so we don't get slapped with mileage charges. I guess at that time we'll take a look at what else is out there and decide if we want to keep it or not!

Arrowhead Water Bottle

Arrowhead has come out with a new plastic waterbottle shape. The .5L size is reviewed here.

At first glance you might think you'll be receiving a smaller amount of water in this bottle... not true! though it's looks are deceiving it actually holds as much as it's competitors .5L sized bottles. The new shape has a certain sexiness to it that can only be related to a womans mid-section. sculpted hippy curves feel so natural in your hand - I wonder if the bottle designers did research to come up with this exact shape? anyone know?

The label claims this bottle is better for the environment because it is "made with less plastic" I'd be interested to know how much lessplastic is used? or are we just supposed to believe their statement? is this "slightly green design"?

On this iteration of the Arrowhead water bottle the logo remains the same as we've seen with previous bottles. Safe, simple, show the mountains... check, show ripples from a drop of water... check.

This website reviews all types of bottled water

what's your favorite brand of water? favorite bottle shape? do you go for the fancy VOSS water or store brand? maybe you fall somewhere in the middle?
